Is GSA Schedule Contract Application Process an Easy Process or Complicated?

Introduction: GSA or the General Services Administration is a government agency, established in 1949. The GSA, has been evolved for over the years and is tasked with managing government buildings, real estate, providing product and service procurement support, developing polices and regulations. GSA is known for its development of GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) Contracts, also referred to as Federal Supply Schedule Contracts or the GSA Schedules Program. The process of getting a GSA Schedule contract is not an easy affair. It’s quite a complex procedure, not simple as just filling up some forms like one need to do for the GSA application process, and attaching certain specific documents. To prepare for getting GSA Schedule Contract here the process/requirements have been discussed –

  • 200 pages or more, documentation of GSA Schedule solicitation.
  • The applicant should have knowledge of government contract regulations (also known as Federal Acquisition Regulations or FAR)
  • Experience people require, who can properly disclose commercial sales & practices, discount practices to avoid fines, claims and disbarment later.
  • GSA negotiation is a big factor here. Therefore, you need to have in extensive experience, that you can don't end up giving away the store.
  • You have to be experienced enough with federal marketing. Otherwise, you may find difficulty to establish pricing and positioning properly in your contract.

The GSA Schedule Contract is estimated approx. $45 Billion government contract. It can be obtained by Businesses, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions, in order to sell products and services to government customers. This contract is supposed to streamline the government sales process. They provide pre-established pricing, terms, and conditions which government buyers can use to purchase from a company.

Conclusion: The GSA schedule contract can last up to 20 years. GSA Schedule is one of the most strategically important federal contracts – an organization can ever obtain.
